A Charity Auction and a Zillion Guest Posts

As you probably know, Hurricane Helene barreled into Appalachia in late September, causing widespread devastation. I live in coastal Virginia, and we’ve traveled in the affected area many times. It’s a beautiful region of the country, and the images of bridges and towns being swept away in an instant was horrifying.

Wanting to do something to help, I donated to the Western North Carolina Indie Authors auction. The auction goes live TODAY and ends on October 20, so get browsing!

Up for grabs is a set of books from me. I’ll send the winner signed paperback copies of Chick MagnetFunny Guy, and Bad Reputation immediately and then, as soon as I have them in hand, I’ll add an ARC of Bold Moves. Chick Magnet and Bold Moves are both set in small (fictional) towns in southwest Virginia, so it’s especially poignant for me to be able to offer those to the highest bidder in this auction.

Thank You! Plus Charity Auctions

I am massively, incredibly, inexpressibly grateful to everyone who made Bad Reputation‘s release so special. I published my first book a decade ago, and I’ve never had a new release get so much attention or had so many people sample the book. It’s been so much–and so lovely–and I’m feeling a little weepy just thinking about it.

This collage features only a fraction of the posts I was tagged in (!!). The folks at Over the River Publicity and Amazon Publishing did such an incredible job of getting it into people’s hands. If you bought the book or reviewed it or posted about it or boosted my posts about it, in the most sincere way: I adore you. Thank you.

I also wanted to let you know about two different charity projects to which I’ve made donations, both to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene in the Appalachia region. The first is the Romance for Appalachia Raffle. For every $5 you donate, you get one entry into a random drawing. The list of prizes is voluminous and amazing, and it includes a signed paperback of Bad Reputation. The drawing will be held on Oct 13, so get donating!

The second is Western North Carolina Charity Auction, which will be held between Oct 18 and 20. The auction site isn’t available yet, but I’ve donated a set of signed books, including Chick Magnet, Funny Guy, and Bad Reputation, plus an ARC of Bold Moves. This is the first ARC that I’ve promised anyone, and I’ll get it into your hands as soon as I can (after I receive it, probably early in 2025).

But speaking of hurricanes, because of Hurricane Milton, we’ve had to postpone the Oct 8 virtual event with The New Romantics (which is located in Florida). Stay safe from the approaching storm, everyone, and we’ll try to get that rescheduled soon.

Odds and Ends

Firstly, Funny Guy—my friends-to-lovers romance featuring a chaos Muppet comedian realizing that he’s in love with his order Muppet BFF—is on sale for the month of July in North America only (sorry about that!). For just $1.99, this somewhat polarizing book can be yours. You can grab it at Amazon, and I hope you will.

Secondly, I have two items up for grabs in the Romancing the Vote auction, which opened TODAY and closes on July 5. Option A: you can bid on a signed ARC of Bad Reputation, and I’ll throw in a friendship bracelet that matches the cover. Or if you would prefer, Option B is a Backyard Chicken starter pack, which includes two guides on keeping chickens, plus a signed copy of Chick Magnet, and a 30-minute Zoom call with me. We can talk about chickens if you have them/are thinking about getting them, or we can talk books: seriously, ask me anything!

Talk to Me!

I was delighted to make a donation to the Equity in Publishing auction put together by the lovely folks at Kaye Publicity. The KP team was amazing at supporting the releases of Chick Magnet and Funny Guy earlier this year, and I can’t recommend them highly enough if you’re looking for publicity.

I’m offering a set of signed copies of Chick Magnet and Funny Guy plus a 30-minute video chat with me (on Zoom, Facetime, or Skype, whichever you prefer). I’d be happy to answer all your burning questions about my books, my writing journey, my chickens, the name of my sourdough starter, etc. You can bid here if you’re interested!

Incoming Charity Auction!

The release week for Funny Guy has been so lovely–and the book has only been out for two days! You can grab your copy at Kindle/KU and Audible if you haven’t already.

I’m mostly here, however, to plug an upcoming romance charity event for a great cause: the Meet Cute Bookshop is putting together a Romance for Reproductive Justice Auction on 6/10 and 6/11.

I’ve donated a set of signed and personalized paperbacks of Funny Guy and Chick Magnet, and you can peruse the full auction here. There’s some AMAZING stuff that I will happily fight you for.

And while we wait, let me drop some links for things I’ve written and interviews and podcasts I’ve done to promote Funny Guy.

Housekeeping

First things first, the entire Political Persuasions series is now available on Kindle Unlimited. I know, I know, I’ve done a lot of shuffling with the series this year. I’ve been trying to figure out where it should be to find the most readers, and so I’m giving it a spin in KU. If you’ve read and enjoyed these books, please recommend them to friends who may not have sampled them: The One You Want, The One You Need, The One You Hate, and The One You Crave.

And the auction to support the release of the three-volume Dissent anthology is now live! The proceeds will benefit reproductive rights and justice. So many incredible items are on offer, including a signed ARC of Chick Magnet!

And Chick Magnet is available for review-y types to request on Netgalley.

Series Cover Reveal: Political Persuasions

The books formerly known as Special Interests, Private Politics, and Party Lines are about to get a new lease on life as Political Persuasions! It’ll take me a bit to fully update my website, but here’s the pretty.

Are they not lovely? Do you not adore them? And they’ll be available in print too for the first time ever!

All this goodness drops on February 21, but if you want to preorder, here are the links:

And I am offering a complete, annotated set in the Romancing the Vote 2022 auction, which you can look at here. Bidding starts on February 14!

Romancing the Runoff

So I meant to post about this yesterday, but I’m tired and sniffly and didn’t get around to it, and then it EXPLODED. It being the Romancing the Runoff Auction.

I donated an annotated copy of Earth Bound, plus Apollo Over the Moon and some space swag, and now it’s going for so much money, I’m almost embarrassed to link to the listing. (It’s here.)

There are still many wonderful items with few or no bids, and the auction has, as of now, raised more than $100K. It’s a wonderful cause, and the generosity and awesomeness of the romance community never ceases to amaze me. If you’re interested, get bidding fast. The fun ends on November 24, and the prices are getting steep.

Romance for RAICES

pink image with hearts and books that reads, "Romance for RAICES, September 8 - 21, 2019"

The awesome folks at Love in Panels have put together a massive auction of signed books, services, swag, and just cool experiences in support of RAICES and The Young Center. From now until September 21, 2019, you can head on over to the auction, make a bid, and, if you win, you make a donation in that amount to RAICES or The Young Center, and the person offering the prize sends it to you.

Included in the lot of almost 200 amazing things, I’m offering a set of signed paper copies of Star Dust, Earth Bound, and Round Midnight, and I’d love to send them to you–yes, YOU. So get clicking and start bidding!
